Javin Reed Completes First Feature Film

Javin ReidFormer Port Townsend resident, Javin Reid, son of Kristen and Tony Reid and grandson of Karen Gates Hildt and the late Michael Hildt, has just wrapped his first feature film in Hollywood. The 12-year-old actor has a lead role in the forthcoming, PING PONG PLAYA, Javin plays a nine-year-old character named Prabakar, a bright and analytical, but poorly coordinated and a nerd among nerds; he's the only Indian student at a Chinese Community Center. He can speak five languages, but has no friends. Enrolled to learn social skills, Prabakar willingly accepts one of the Chinese boys in his class as his "master," but never really masters the art of ping pong. By movie's end, he becomes a part of the group, learning to put his extraordinary brain to help the cause, designing a special pair of tennis shoes for ping pong use only.

The film is under the direction of Jessica Yu, best known for her documentary work, most particularly a film called BREATHING LESSONS which won a 1996 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. She has directed episodes of "Grey's Anatomy," "ER," and "The West Wing." This is her first narrative feature.

The film is now in post-production; the release date has not been announced.

Javin has been acting professionally since 2003 in various television programs. He and his parents split their time between Seattle and Los Angeles.
