FINAL CLUE FOR 2006 FILM GUEST REVEALED

The fourth and final clue in the Port Townsend Film Festival's "Guess-the-Guest" contest was revealed today as the countdown continues for the seventh annual weekend movie marathon, September 15-17.

Hidden within four clues offered over a four-week period is the identity of festival's featured guest. Previous guests have included such film stars from the fifties and sixties as Tony Curtis, Eva Marie Saint, Patricia Neal, Shirley Knight, Peter Fonda, Jane Powell, Dickie Moore, Debra Winger and Arliss Howard.

The four 2006 clue reads:

Our guest appeared in two films in Entertainment Weekly's list of 25 "most controversial" films.

The first three clues were:

Howard Schultz has nothing on our guest
Another kind of tailor.
..., not when

The identity of the guest will be revealed on Wednesday, August 2.

The winning contestant will be selected at random from among those who correctly identify the name of the guest by Monday, July 31. The winner will be introduced and have his or her photograph taken with the guest at a special reception during the festival.

Entries can be made in one of three ways:

  1. By email (info@ptfilmfest.com (type "Guest" in the subject line),
  2. By mail (Port Townsend Film Festival, PO Box 594, Port Townsend, WA 98368),
  3. By hand-delivery (Port Townsend Film Festival office, Mount Baker Block, 211 Taylor St., Suite 33, third floor, at the corner of Water and Taylor Streets).

In addition to listing the name of the guest, contestants should include their mailing address, email address (if they have one), and a daytime phone number.

"We try to make the early clues tough," according to Peter Simpson, the festival's executive director who also holds the responsibilities of programming. "In previous years, our clues have been a bit too easy and folks were able to easily find the identity of the guest through Google, the internet search engine. But now, we've dug deeper into our guests' backgrounds to find information not readily available. "If you can fill in he blank, this clue is more revealing," he added. The featured guest will be interviewed by Robert Osborne, Turner Classic Movies host, on stage Saturday night, Sept. 16, along with a screening of one of his (or her) films. She (or he) will make other appearances during the festival at events yet to be announced.
