PT Film Festival Blockbuster Sale Saturday
Bargains galore as Port Townsend Film Festival cleans out storage closet!
Port Townsend, WA, August 14, 2005: Step right up this Saturday and own a piece of Port Townsend Film Festival history or walk away with a free pass to this year's silver screen gala.
T-shirts and other items commemorating five years as a Port Townsend mainstay attraction will be sold at discounted prices during the Uptown Street Fair starting at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Lawrence and Tyler streets.
Organizers of the festival ask film lovers to come on down and assist in an effort to make room in the storage closet for future festival merchandise.
"There's something for everyone," festival volunteer Luke Bogues said. "Need to entertain visiting relatives? Bring them on down. Need back-to-school clothes for the kids? We have something for you!
"Bargains galore and no assembly required!"
The sale is perfectly timed to buy clothing from previous years to wear to the sixth annual event Sept. 23-25, Bogues added.
"For people like me who discovered the film festival only a couple years ago, this is a great opportunity to stock up and try to impress folks by telling them I've been there since the beginning."
Volunteers and staff - many of whom actually have been with the festival since its incarnation in 1999 - will be on hand to sell memberships, passes, and answer questions about the three-day event.
A drawing for a free all-venue pass will take place at 3 p.m. The winner will be pulled from a list of people who completed an event survey during last year's film festival.
All-venue pass holders will have access to more than 50 films, panel discussions and the opening night banquet sponsored by the Silverwater CafÉ, 237 Taylor St.
But wait, there's more! For those who do not walk away with a pass from the street fair raffle, there will be a second opportunity to win a pass Saturday.
The Rose Theatre will have a drawing for two, one-month passes to the theatre, 235 Taylor St., and a film festival pass at the outdoor presentation of "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" at dusk.
Gates to Memorial Field on Washington Street downtown open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, a blanket and an appetite for the theater's renowned popcorn.
Event passes are available from the festival's Web site or by calling the festival office. Day passes go on sale Sept. 1 and tickets for individual movies will be available throughout the festival.
