ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Now in its 10th year, the Port Townsend Film Festival is always a rare pleasure; a celebration of film old and new, held among what felt like a gathering of friends. last weekend. The leaves were golden, the sun was bright and the stars were everywhere. Cloris Leachman, delightfully uncensored, charmed the crowds. Robert Osborne, the debonair host of Turner Classic Movies, brought his encyclopedic knowledge of classic film. Lena Horne sparkled from the screen in the 1943 musical "Cabin in the Sky," with her daughter Gail Buckley on hand to share stories. Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron whirled on the big outdoor screen in "An American in Paris," below an indigo sky that glittered as if strewn with diamonds. (And)it wasn't all classics at the PTFF — the weekend features a wide selection of new feature films and documentaries from around the world, with many filmmakers present.

Writing about PTFF, Moira Macdonald of the Seattle Times

We truly did have the time of our life at Port Townsend.  The festival makes a tremendous effort to support the filmmakers and involve the entire town.  The integration of quality films and an enthusiastic audience makes for a 'do not miss' festival. It was an honor to win the Audience Award; the notoriety catapulted our independent film into new successes!  Since winning, other festivals have contacted us asking for our film. This goes to show that PTFF is a gem in the eye of film enthusiasts everywhere. As a filmmaker, having festivals and distributors asking to see my film is a dream come true and this would not have been possible without PTFF.

J.J. Kelly (Winner Audience Choice 2009 for "Paddle to Seattle")
